My second time dressing backstage at London Fashion Week and I got the amazing opportunity to be Head Dresser at the House of MEA show for Fashion Scout at the stunning Freemason’s Hall. Supported by FAD International, FAD Dubai and London College of Style, it was an incredible opportunity to work with top international designers.
I was looking after 6 dressers, making sure everyone was in the right place, assigning models, checking looks and generally making sure everyone knew what they were doing in the chaos and excitement that is backstage of a runway show!
Backstage we had three designers running for the show meaning there were rails upon rails of gorgeous garments, hair, makeup, models, stylists, production, photographers, and dressers filling the room – time management was going to be a must!
Our team looked after the womenswear collection for the incredible designer Nivedita Saboo – absolutely beautiful dresses with intricately beaded bodices, long flowing trains and stunning use of print and colour. Nivedita is one of the loveliest people I have ever met – encouraging us to get hands on and learning as we go – we had people steaming, punching holes in leather belts and even last minute sewing touch ups to ensure the dresses fit perfectly to the stunning troop of models.
With an incredibly quick change-over from Annderstand to us, it meant all hands on deck behind the runway – but I have to say my dressers were all absolutely brilliant – a quick, professional, unflappable dream team to work with!
Even though it was hectic backstage, it was definitely one of the best shows I have done, especially as the models were so lovely to work with too! A highlight of my fashion career to date.
Next up – Fyodor Golan… front of house and behind the scenes!
Until next time lovelies x
